Brenton was recently an invited speaker at Western Australia’s inaugural Biosecurity Careers and Networking Event. Hosted by Murdoch University’s Harry Butler Institute, the WA Biodiversity Science Institute (WABSI), and the WA Agricultural Research Collaboration (WAARC), The four-hour event included biosecurity presentations and Q&As, exploration of career pathways, networking, and refreshments. The invited speakers - Brenton, Tracey Vinnicombe and Johann van der Merwe –shared their diverse experiences and insider knowledge about tackling biosecurity threats in WA and beyond. Brenton spoke about how he is using genetics, modelling, and ecology to predict and stop invasive species in their tracks. Around 120 people came together at Murdoch University to connect, learn, and be inspired. PBG’s Ben, Haylee, Marta, Ian, and Normandie were also in attendance at the event.
